Wage

£4.30 Per Hour.

Monday – Thursday: 7am – 4pm
Friday:7am – 12pm
39 Hours a week.

Vacancy Description

Firstly, we would like someone to learn the basics of sheet metal work and to understand the health and safety requirements.You will start with simple jobs of measuring materials, cutting materials, deburring, and working along side another employee for assistance.

You will be taught how to read technical drawings and learn how to break things down and plan out the job, in this time you will pick up how to work out allowances required for each material on a specific job and how to calculate back to the developed sizes required to start the job.

You will be taught how to operate machinery such as press brake, CNC punch, and CNC Laser affectively and safely. Which will also later lead to setting and programming of these machines.You will be taught the basics of Mig and Tig welding on mild steel working up to stainless and aluminium.

You will learn how to use basic hand tools properly for different jobs, these will include a sander, polisher, drill, hammer etc.

Once your welding is up to a good standard you will start to weld simple jobs ready to go out the door and build on your skill set to do more intricate jobs required.

  • General maths and social skills.
  • To be confident in working and learning new jobs.
  • To be able to listen to instruction and take on board information.
  • To not be afraid to ask for help or more guidance on the job in hand.
  • To be hungry to work and strive to make themselves better and have a general interest in metal work.
  • Want to earn their value in a small team.

Things to Consider:

  • At times there will be heavy lifting and moving of heavy materials / jobs.
  • Job is mostly on your feet, rarely do you get to sit down.
  • Environment is usually noisy and dirty.
  • You would have to take great care to avoid accidental injury from machinery.
    You would have to wear protective clothing, such as boiler suits, ear protector, goggles and gloves. 

Qualifications

4/C or above in English and Maths GCSE is the Entry Requirments for this course. We will ask for evidence of this when applying. If you cannot provide evience, we unfortunatly cannot progress with your application.
